State Fare Bar & Kitchen

Overview

If you find yourself cruising through Rancho Mirage, there’s one spot that instantly feels like home: State Fare Bar & Kitchen. Nestled at 68900 Frank Sinatra Dr, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270, United States, this vibrant eatery brings together the charm of classic American dining with a contemporary twist. Walking in, the first thing that hits you is the warm, inviting atmosphere-soft lighting, sleek décor, and a buzz that hints at a place that locals genuinely love.

From personal experience, I’ve visited during both a casual weekend brunch and an evening dinner, and each visit felt uniquely memorable. The menu strikes a balance between familiar comfort foods and adventurous twists. For instance, their fried chicken sandwich is a masterclass in layering flavors-crispy, tender chicken paired with pickled slaw and a perfectly toasted bun. On another visit, the ahi tuna poke bowl impressed with its freshness and delicate seasoning, clearly reflecting careful sourcing and thoughtful preparation.

What sets this diner apart is its attention to the guest experience. Servers are not just courteous; they seem to know the menu intimately, offering recommendations that genuinely enhance your meal. For example, pairing their house-made cocktails with the flatbread specials turned what could have been a standard dinner into an event. Research from the National Restaurant Association highlights that personalized service increases customer satisfaction and repeat visits, and State Fare Bar & Kitchen demonstrates this principle beautifully.

The kitchen’s process is worth noting. Each dish is prepared with precision, showing a dedication to both taste and presentation. Vegetables are often locally sourced, ensuring crisp textures and vibrant flavors. The chefs employ techniques such as marination, slow roasting, and careful seasoning that balance complexity with comfort. During my brunch visit, watching the staff execute these processes in real time provided insight into the level of expertise required to maintain such consistency in a busy service environment.

Reviews from the community consistently highlight not only the quality of the food but also the ambiance and location. Being on Frank Sinatra Drive adds a certain nostalgic glamour, which perfectly complements the modern take on classic dishes. Local food critics, like those from Palm Springs Life, frequently praise the kitchen’s inventive approach, particularly in its small plates and shareable options, which makes it ideal for both casual diners and special occasions.

State Fare Bar & Kitchen’s menu evolves with seasonal ingredients, which is evident in the rotating specials. One weekend featured a roasted beet and goat cheese salad that paired beautifully with their signature cocktails, while another showcased a braised short rib taco that melted in your mouth. Such adaptability speaks to the chef’s expertise and understanding of flavor profiles, allowing patrons to explore new tastes without leaving behind familiar favorites.

Trustworthiness in a dining experience is not just about food quality but also transparency. State Fare Bar & Kitchen clearly displays sourcing information and allergen notes, reflecting a commitment to accurate and reliable information for guests. In a time when diners are increasingly conscious of both health and ethical food practices, this approach fosters trust and reassures that the restaurant values guest well-being as much as culinary delight.

Overall, every element-from the thoughtfully crafted menu to the attentive service and the iconic Rancho Mirage setting-comes together seamlessly. The combination of quality ingredients, innovative preparation, and a welcoming environment makes dining at State Fare Bar & Kitchen more than just a meal; it’s an experience that lingers long after the check arrives.

Enjoyed breakfast, and team dinner. Breakfast is à la carte with a great selection of traditional or modern cuisine. The avocado toast had flavours of sweet and spicy, together with fresh baked dark toast. The banana pancakes hit the sweet spot, soft and fresh. For after breakfast, I asked for a quiet place inside to work remotely, and was surprised with a great view. We had team dinner as a group of 10, and enjoyed entrees with special eggs, seafood and more. The pacific salmon was on point with a delicious sauce and vegetables.

Our waiter, Jonas, was very attentive and polite. The food was very good. The ambiance is superb with amazing views. The reasons I deducted a star were: 1) the date bread was very hard and 2) both entrees, salmon and halibut, very smelly. The fishy smell wasn't so bad that we couldn't eat, but it was strong enough for us to notice. We had some leftovers and the next day our refrigerator smelled like fish! I wonder how fresh the fish were. Other than that, everything else was amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Hey Y'all Devin here again with another AMAZING review..... Ok so what went great? Everything..... Upon walking in had a conversation with Marvin.... HE HAS THE BIGGEST SMILE BY THE WAY AND YOU JUST FEEL HIS PERSONABLE ENERGY.......... We had Christian as our server.... By the way just as a side not I feel it is important to know ur audience to understand the correct pairing on the staff/client relationship and THEY NAILED IT!!!!! Christian was very polite, GREAT attitude, great small talk (congrats on 4 yrs and he brags about the staff he works with---- this speaks HIGH volumes of management). It was a delight to have Marvin, Christian and the other staff members willing to take pics of us because my sister and I are a part of the Foodie group & promote the restaurants this way!!! The ambiance absolutely gorgeous. I do have a suggestion though .... the lights in the pool can be a cool energy Lavender color and I believe that will complement the lighting and absolutely pop. The food ---THANK YOU CHEF. So, I ordered WELL DONE (YES, I SAID IT) Filet mignon and not only was it cooked correctly but super tender. I am definitely glad to be the ONLY person to ever stump Marvin on the question of the salt & pepper shakers!!!! Also, Sara & I are available for design suggestions once items picked out (I have an extended work background in construction & design). This place is definitely worth it. IT IS VALET ONLY..... but the restaurant will validate your ticket!!! We will be back!!!

Had a wonderful overall experience at State Fare Bar & Kitchen, which is located within the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage. We had what was probably the best hummus dish ever. The desserts were amazing, and our server was out of this world. You can't beat the overall experience at this restaurant. We highly recommend it!

I had the absolute pleasure of dining here recently, and I can’t speak highly enough of the experience—especially as someone who follows a vegan lifestyle. The chef went above and beyond to curate a custom plant-based menu, and every dish was executed with exceptional care, flavor, and presentation. We started with the cilantro hummus—fresh, zesty, and creamy. For entrées, we had the jackfruit tacos and the curried vegetable rice. For the birthday desert, we were served three different types of vegan sorbets-so yummy. Each dish was top notch—made with incredibly fresh ingredients and clearly crafted with intention. The service was warm and attentive, and the overall experience was thoughtful from start to finish. I’m incredibly grateful for Chef Janiece and the care taken to accommodate my dietary preferences without compromise. She made it a true five-star experience. Tip for fellow plant-based diners: call a couple days ahead to let the team know your dietary needs—they’ll go the extra mile to welcome you with something truly special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined yet inclusive dining experience.

Exceptional! We sat at the bar for lunch both days! DJ was fantastic! He took his time to explain what types of tequilas they have. Also helped with deciding on what to get for lunch both days. DJ was so friendly and polite! We really enjoyed sitting at his bar! While you’re here make sure you have breakfast on the patio! The views are incredible and the service is exceptional!
